Humanity.TV today launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund more filmmaking teams to continue documenting fascinating local stories around the world. The team hopes to count on the backing of the travel community to help create a one-of-a-kind interactive tablet app to showcase its videos in a contextualized experience. It also hopes to attract top filmmaking talent from around the world to continue raising the quality of its production and give the big travel brands a run for their money. From their Kickstarter page:

Humanity.TV aims to create a series that shows what truly makes travel special – the people you encounter who create lasting experiences – rather than showcasing a bubbly host at a luxury resort.

We want to expand our filmmaking teams and reach different parts of the globe to tell even more authentic, local stories. To help tell these fascinating stories, we will also be getting the community involved by putting the storytelling capabilities directly into the hands of the subjects; we’ll pass out cameras and allow the subjects to tell their own story – in their own words and on their own time.

We hope you’ll join us in redefining travel shows for a new media audience! Become a backer or tell a friend by visiting their Kickstarter campaign here.

After a couple of weeks off of the scheduled trail (in South Africa and Greece), the team has returned to Southeast Asia to finish off the inaugural season. The team, currently in Cambodia, will finish the season in Late November after visiting Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Cambodia, an often forgotten country nestled between SE Asia’s superpowers, is a country filled with history, both ancient and fresh. One of the most revered temples of the region and the world is Angkor Wat – one wonder that not only lives up to the expectations it sets forth, but exceeds them in every way.

The team spent nearly three full days exploring Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples before taking the bumpy road to the country capital of Phnom Penh.

Keep your eye out for three new videos from Cambodia, with an exploration of Angkor Wat coming very soon.

We spent the past four days exploring the area around Puerto Galera, Philippines. We hadn’t planned to go the Philippines on this trip through Asia, but we’re definitely glad we did. Gaston was able to snag his open water scuba certification and I decided to upgrade to Advanced Adventurer, so we spent three full days underwater. Definitely some beautiful diving.

When we weren’t underwater (which was often), we rented motorcycles and zoomed along the beautiful coastline. Every once in awhile, it’s good to unplug, get some sun, and explore. But we were also still working, so look for two new videos coming out of the Philippines plus some awesome shots. Here are some of our personal ones from the past few days.
